April 10, 2007British heavy metal veterans SAXON will release their "anti-gun-crime" single, "If I Was You", in the U.K. on April 16 via SPV Records. All proceeds from the single will be split equally between The Non Violence Foundation and the Gun Control Network.
SAXON's video for "If I Was You" has been posted at YouTube. The track comes off the British heavy metal legends' latest album, "The Inner Sanctum", which was released in early March.
AS previously reported, SAXON is the subject of tonight's (Tuesday, April 10) "Get Your Act Together with Harvey Goldsmith" documentary series on U.K.'s Channel 4 in which legendary Live Aid and Live 8 promoter Harvey Goldsmith attempts "to help revive the fortunes of six entertainment businesses in desperate need of a boost, and set them back on the path to the big time." His task with SAXON is to get the band a hit single in Britain. The program will air on Tuesday, April 10 at 9:00 p.m. on Channel 4 and will be followed by an accompanying E4 series, "Get Your Act Together: The Showdown", which goes behind the scenes of the show and reunites Harvey with each act. "Get Your Act Together: The Showdown" will air on April 10 at 10:00 p.m.
